2026 · Edition 1
01 · The professional weighing challenge

Weight is a routine measure. For wheelchair users, collecting it rarely is.

Most weighing workflows assume a patient can stand. When they cannot, the workaround falls to the care team: a transfer, a trip to a facility with specialized equipment, a scale that does not travel, or a reading that simply does not get taken. The result is inconsistent access to one of the most basic numbers in care.

01Standing assumptions are built into most scales and most workflows.
02Transfers take time, staff, and carry their own considerations.
03Facility-grade wheelchair scales are heavy, fixed, and rarely where care happens.
04Travel to a clinic delays the reading, and often replaces it entirely.

03 · The Slate workflow

Roll on. Subtract the chair. Record the reading.

Slate fits inside a visit rather than around it. The patient stays in the chair they already use; your team captures the reading and moves on.

STEP 01
Place Slate where care happens
In the home, the therapy room, or the clinic space already in use.
STEP 02
Set the chair weight
Enter or recall the chair weight so it can be subtracted from the reading.
STEP 03
Roll on from the wheelchair
No standing and no transfer. Manual and power chairs alike.
STEP 04
Record and repeat
Capture the reading so repeated visits build a usable history.
04 · Professional use environments

Clinic and facility

For rehabilitation, therapy gyms, exam and intake rooms, and nursing stations. Slate is placed once in the room where the visit already happens and stays ready for the next patient.

Seating, mobility, and programs

For seating and mobility clinics, DME providers, veteran programs, and adaptive and community programs that need repeatable readings across many people.

07 · Professional FAQs
How do I order Slate?
Slate is available for pre-order. Submit a pre-order request with your projected quantity and we will confirm your place in the production run and send a quote with delivery timing and installation details. No payment is due until your unit ships.
What is Slate, and how is it different from Fold?
Fold is Canary MedTech’s portable home product for individual wheelchair users. Slate is the professional product: placed in a facility, built for repeated multi-patient use, and sold by quote and through the DME channel. Slate Pro adds distribution, fitment, and research measurement.
Does the patient need to transfer out of their wheelchair?
No. Slate is designed for roll-on use directly from the wheelchair, with chair weight stored and subtracted.
Can we discuss bulk or multi-site purchasing?
Yes. Include your projected quantity and timeline in your request and we will route the inquiry accordingly.
